For over thirty years, Mary and her husband, Pete, have lived in the Elk River Valley where they raise quarter horses and hay, and graze a small herd of cattle during the summer months. They have two adult children, Andy and Cassidy.
Mary's first collection of essays, At Home in the Elk River Valley: Reflections on Family, Place, and the West was released in April 2011. It was recognized by Indie Excellence Book Awards as a Finalist in Regional Non-Fiction and by the Colorado Independent Publisher's Association's as a Bronze EVVY Award winner.
